I haven't seen a jumping grass hopper in a while. We use to have them on the side of the road and every time you walked the road they would hop about. Liked you pictures.
This has not been a good year for grasshoppers here, and I can't say I mind them not chewing up leaves and hopping around leaving 'tobacco juice' all over everything. Fun for kids though...
Years ago, when my cats first saw grasshoppers, Ava ignored them, but Hermie was fascinated. He would jump along behind them to try to catch them! It was such fun to watch a full-grown cat jumping, and jumping, and jumping! Thanks for the memories, Ann. Made my day. And I enjoyed the video, too. — K

Awesome photo! When I was a child and visited my aunt and uncle in the desert region of BC, I'd go grasshopper hunting with my little friends. I love their sound!
Your grasshopper is beautiful. The one I encountered this afternoon was not. It smacked me right between the eyes as I was walkin' to the mailbox! At least it's aim was dead on but it hurt like crazy!
You have yourself a blessed and beautiful day sweetie!!! :o)
Hi, I am a Gigi Ann. (Gigi means Great Grandma). Now doesn't Gigi sound better than Great-grandma? I love to read, it is my favorite pastime. I am married to a pretty great grandpa. We celebrated our 53nd anniversary on July 3, 2011. We had 5 children, 3 Sons and 2 Daughters. And than along came 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, with one on the way... Which makes me a Gigi.. Instead of a Gramma... Actually, we are happy campers.

Great sights and sound!! Lovely capture!!
Terrific poem Gigi Ann. Like the picture too. You always have such interesting ideas for ABC.
As a girl I used to love watching grasshoppers, trying to catch them and let them go. I wasn't terribly successful at catching them...
I used to chased them when I was young. Just love to play with them they hop high and fast ^_^

Nothing says summer more than the sound of grasshoppers.
Grasshoppers are rare here this year! That thought makes me very happy. :)
A few weeks a go, a grasshopper jumped up into the inside of my trousers...up one leg and out the other. I invented a new dance!
