"X" Is For "Xenogeny"

Xenogeny: is the supposed production of offspring totally different from the parent.

So bare with me today, I'm using the old typewriter as the parent of the computer, do you follow me? After all "X" words are difficult to come by. I found this one in my "Official SCRABBLE Players Dictionary."

"Echoes of My Past."
When I was a youngster in High School
I learnt to type on a typewriter like this.
I spend many an hour typing:
"The quick brown foX jumps over the lazy dog."
There was no correcting mistakes,
eXcept maybe with Whiteout.
Mostly you just started over
until you got it right.
We had no backspacing to correct mistakes.
And definitely no spell check.
Those were the eXciting, and wonderful days of my youth,
1956, 1957, and 1958.

Just discovered that the typewriter, stuck in the corner of the office, doesn't work any more!

Yup, I learned on one of those too. How I love the backspace and delete tab on my computer. No more torn, scratchy term papers to do over and over and over again! (:0)

I was thinking of human beings. My bro is Chinese, his wife is Anglo saxon, their daughter is married to a white person.

Now she wonders what her kids will be like.

Oh yes, they were part of my youth too. I used to type twelve copies of minutes of meetings on onion skin for the Town Planning Commission in Edmonton before I was married in 1945. I am constantly amazed at technology, even though I don't understand where it all comes from! Got a Smart Phone at Christmas,,WOW.

My parents had an old manual typewriter that I loved playing with. I took typing my first two years in high school and loved it. By the time I was a senior we were all taking computer classes!

Those were the days indeed, though I never learned to type. My old school was of the 'old school' type. Everything had to be handwritten as your handwriting was considered to be a mark of your excellent education. Even applications to colleges and entrance examinations to universities had to be hand written.

I love the typewriter piece. Got to hear it live once at IU, Bloomington one summer.

I also learned to type on a non-electric typewriter.
